The Position:

the role is a fixed-term role for 18 months

  • Support all accounting activities in the defined regional scope in the GBS ESC to ensure the performance of accounting services in high quality as well as in a timely and fully compliant manner
  • Support building up and stabilizing the new organizational set-up of the GBS ESC and the new end-to-end (E2E) processes in the defined regional scope of the GBS ESC
  • Closely collaborate within the service line teams and support other GBS ESC service line teams as aligned with the responsible line manager to ensure that all interfaces are fully covered

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Operate all accounting-related transactions in sub-ledgers and Cash Operations, especially related to Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Bank Accounting, and Master Data considering relevant accounting and VAT regulations
  • Timely and exhaustively post accruals and provisions; prepare and execute incoming and outgoing payments; post and monitor payments and prepare payment runs
  • Operate, support, and execute all relevant Record-to-Report activities
  • Operate and support monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger and closing activities
  • Support and prepare reporting packages and reporting analyses
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, local commercial, and tax law
  • Execute activities related to (fixed) assets on group and affiliate level, especially related to IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, and IAS 40
  • Operationally support and execute investment-related activities (planning, budget, forecast) across the complete asset lifecycle
  • Support all operational Credit Management and Credit Analysis activities in scope
  • Create and maintain master data for E2E processes in scope of GBS ESC in close collaboration with data stewards, data champions, GBS ESC service lines, and other relevant stakeholders according to the MDM processes and the GBS MDM governance model
  • Support Fixed Assets, Intercompany, and Financial Accounting
  • Support customer handling and relationship activities; collaborate within teams and partly cross-functionally with other stakeholders; and constructively share information within GBS teams
  • Support requests from internal audit and/or tax authorities
  • Perform, monitor, and support the maintenance of policies and procedures, J-Sox controls, and further internal controls and risk assessments in collaboration with the line manager, SMEs, and GPOs
  • Participate in projects to optimize accounting activities and the development of the GBS ESC

Personal Skills and Professional Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or finance-related professional education
 

Experience:

  • WP, CPA, or equivalent professional certification preferred
  • Experience in financial audit and/or experience in finance-, accounting-, or tax-related advisory, as well as relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA), is a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, ideally in a global, cross-cultural environment
  • Project management experience is a plus, ideally with a track record of successful implementations
  • Experience in project work and/or the environment of global business services, shared services, or in transformation contexts is an advantage

Skills and additional Requirements

  • Very good knowledge of IFRS; good knowledge of HGB and international VAT law desirable
  • Project management and process management skills including process design and optimization are a plus
  • Good knowledge of SAP R/3, SAP ECC, or S/4 HANA and MS Office, especially in modules FI and/or CO, MDG, and AA; experience in working with other SAP modules (MM, SD) or other reporting-related tools is a plus
  • Language skills: English (full professional proficiency / business fluent) and/or German (business fluent)
  • Strong and convincing communicator; intercultural and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a hands-on and result-oriented way of working
  • Customer orientation and ability to work in teams and take over responsibility
  • Affinity to work in an international, cross-functional, and dynamic environment
  • Solid understanding of the pharma business is a plus
