Purpose of the function

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Executes the Global and European Government Affairs strategy and develops national, regional and local plans with a focus on our €1bn investment in our development & production site in Pfaffenhofen, industrial and environmental politics
  • Engage with stakeholders and key policy makers on EU, German and Bavarian level to ensure DS positions are recognized
  • Track key policies, laws, and regulations impacting pharma in the fields of industrial policy, manufacturing, research, sustainability and others
  • Identify early on and prioritize emerging regulations and legislation that will impact DS´s development & manufacturing site in Pfaffenhofen and ensure internal awareness, including risks and opportunities
  • Analyze and actively follow trends and changes in the political environment and develop position and messaging papers
  • Align closely with internal key stakeholders e.g. the Head of the European Tech Unit, Head of European Plant management and Subject Matter Experts at our production site in Pfaffenhofen
  • Initiate and prepare DS-representatives participation in key events, speeches, including e.g. round tables and industry conferences
  • Organize DS-hosted policy events (e.g. production site visits by policy makers) to connect and exchange with relevant stakeholders in Brussels, Berlin, Munich and Pfaffenhofen
  • Build and manage trustful relationships with stakeholders and institutions on European, German and Bavarian level
  • Fosters an open and creative information and engagement culture through a coherent approach across the organization

Education & Experience

  • University degree (e.g. master’s degree in Political Science, European Studies, Public Affairs, Law, Journalism, Economics, or similar) required
  • 5 to 8 years of work experience in a company or institutional Policy or PR position in the healthcare sector required

Skills and additional Requirements

  • In-depth experience working with external stakeholders from a wide variety of fields, roundtables and meetings
  • Understanding of the European and German political environment
  • Expertise in the policy & regulatory landscape of generics and pharma production
  • Passion for working with people from various functions (e.g. chemistry, engineering, market access, medical, sustainability, etc.)
  • Strong external network to relevant stakeholders on European, German and Bavarian level
  • Personal values matching Daiichi-Sankyo values: integrity, collaboration, commitment and courage in day-to-day interactions with customers and colleagues
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and deliver on deadlines and budgets
  • Excellent English and German skills (written and spoken)
  • High willingness to travel
