The Position

  • Leads sourcing strategy for complex, niche, and hard-to-fill roles by developing targeted approaches informed by deep market expertise, talent availability, and competitive insights.
  • Partners with recruiters and hiring managers to influence sourcing direction and improve access to priority talent segments.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on sourcing methods, talent markets, and engagement strategies, and provides recommendations to improve sourcing effectiveness for assigned roles.
  • Scope of role spans a defined region and may expand to additional regions or business units based on evolving workforce needs and organizational priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing Partnership

  • Independently lead sourcing strategy for critical, niche, and hard-to-fill roles across priority business functions
  • Partner closely with recruiters, senior hiring managers, and business leaders to align sourcing strategy with workforce needs
  • Build proactive talent pipelines for high-priority roles and strategic talent segments
  • Source and engage candidates through direct outreach, professional networks, academic institutions, and external talent communities
  • Maintain ongoing communication with potential candidates to keep talent pools current for future opportunities
  • Participate in recruiting events, conferences, and networking activities to expand pipelines and build market awareness
  • Support employer branding and proactive talent engagement initiatives across target talent communities

 

Market Intelligence and Talent Advisory

  • Provide talent market intelligence, competitor insights, and talent mapping to influence hiring decisions
  • Advise recruiters and hiring managers on candidate availability, sourcing strategy, and talent market trends
  • Recommend sourcing channel optimization and pipeline strategies based on market conditions

 

Sourcing Operations and Process Improvement

  • Review job postings across internal job boards and career sourcing platforms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with current hiring needs
  • Conduct initial phone screens for assigned roles to assess baseline qualifications and candidate interest
  • Track outreach activity and candidate responses, including response rate and follow-up status, to provide sourcing and pipeline updates
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve sourcing processes, tools, and effectiveness
  • Ensure strong compliance with sourcing standards, data quality, and inclusive hiring practices
  • Contribute sourcing insights and hands-on support during recruitment strategy discussions and short-term Talent Acquisition projects
  • Mentor Associate Sourcers and Sourcers by sharing best practices and coaching sourcing capability development

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or Bachelors Degree required
  • 4 or more years of experience in Talent Acquisition ideally within the pharma, biotech or life sciences sectors or alternative relevant experience required
  • 2 or more years of experience in:
    • Developing and managing talent pipelines for defined roles or skill areas within a Talent Acquisition or sourcing function
    • Demonstrated ability to influence recruiters and hiring partners through sourcing insights, market data, and practical recommendations
    • Solid business acumen, with the ability to understand role requirements, workforce priorities, and how sourcing efforts support hiring outcomes
    • Applying strategic thinking to sourcing activities, including selecting channels and approaches based on role needs and talent availability
    • Performance-driven mindset, with experience measuring sourcing effectiveness and adjusting approaches to improve pipeline outcomes
    • Ability to contribute ideas and test new sourcing approaches or tools to support continuous improvement within the sourcing function 
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently with sound judgment, taking initiative while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately
    • Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly and communicate effective solutions
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, professionalism, and responsiveness
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive candidate information with discretion and professionalism
  • Fluent in German required
  • Business fluent English preferred
