The Position:

  • Execute the regional delivery scope of Global Business Services (GBS) with regards to the end-to-end process "Product Costing", especially financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analyses, and reporting with regards to Product Costing and Cost Controlling in the regional scope of GBS
  • Perform the month-end closing process and planning process with regards to Product Costing
  • Support continuous improvement in the new end-to-end (E2E) processes for Product Costing in the defined regional scope of GBS European Service Center (GBS ESC)
  • Closely collaborate within the service line teams and support other GBS ESC service line teams as aligned with the responsible line manager, helping to ensure that all interfaces are fully covered

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities related to the Product Costing scope in GBS ESC and for the delivery and coordination of operational Product Costing process activities
  • Perform the month-end closing process with regards to Product Costing (especially calculation and reconciliation of overhead, WIP calculation and analysis, settlement of process orders and analysis of production variances, actual closing cockpit)
  • Perform for Product Costing the design, constant monitoring, analyses, and administration of cost centers, cost allocation logics, recurring cost allocation cycles, and cost center hierarchies in close collaboration with the responsible Center of Excellence and Business Partners; review production expenses and analyze production variances and COGS accounts; gather data and measures for accurate budgeting and costing
  • Execute the operational planning process for standard IC COGS (affiliates) and standard Product Costing on DSE level; review, verify, and adjust standard COGS and variance values in the planning tool during budget and forecast periods
  • Calculate, maintain, and verify unit COGS data, loss-free calculation, and product costs for new materials; create, verify, and maintain material master data
  • Identify discrepancies in costs; proactively derive, align, and implement measures to ensure an exhaustive, timely, and fully compliant product costing service process in GBS according to agreed activity splits
  • Serve as a contact person and operational stakeholder manager in GBS ESC, ensuring that issues and measures are well understood, managed, and integrated into all business areas with regards to Product Costing for:
    • Plant Administration and Production Controlling teams of our Pfaffenhofen plant
    • Other regional Finance and Accounting, Center of Excellence teams, and Business Partners
    • Global Oncology and Specialty Finance Business divisions with regards to the product costing structure, COGS, and production variances analysis and related measures
    • DSJ teams regarding the calculation and provision of the sales prices for toll manufacturing business

Personal Skills and Professional Experience:

Education:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, or relevant professional certification with experience in the area, or proven experience as a Finance Business Partner or Finance Manager
 

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Controlling/Management Accounting related to planning, budgeting, analyses, and forecasting with a specific focus on COGS and Product Costing, and proven relevant professional experience in Group Accounting or Management Accounting
  • Experience in larger functional responsibility and/or a material role as a subject matter expert with significant and strong stakeholder management experience
  • Experience and preference for working in an agile, complex, and data-driven environment
  • Experience in project work or project management, ideally with a track record of larger operational projects and successful implementation responsibility

Competencies:

  • Strong finance and Controlling knowledge with a specific focus on Product Costing and COGS
  • Good Accounting and IFRS knowledge
  • Project management and process management skills including process design and optimization
  • Good system-related skills in systems and tools for P2F (e.g. SAP FI/CO), Reporting (e.g. SAP Analytics Cloud, Qlik, Power BI), and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); financial data analytics skills are a plus
  • Language skills: English (full professional proficiency / business fluent); German (business fluent) is a plus
  • Excellent stakeholder manager and communicator; intercultural and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a hands-on and result-oriented way of working
  • High level of customer centricity and strong Business Partner mentality
  • High ability and affinity to constructively deal with conflicts and to work in an international and dynamic environment, especially in a transformation and/or GBS context
  • Solid understanding of pharma products and business is a plus
