Purpose of the function

The Director, Global Oncology Pricing Operations and Capabilities is accountable for the enterprise pricing governance framework and innovative contracting excellence program across Global Oncology. The position serves as the deputy/secretary to the Global Pricing Committee (GPC) and as enterprise product owner for pricing/contracting methods, tools, and training. The individual would ensure decisions are analytically rigorous, policy-aware (e.g., US MFN, IRP, HTA), and aligned to portfolio value guardrails while scaling innovative value strategies (IVS) and payer negotiation mastery across PMA (Pricing and Market Access), regions, and affiliates. This position reports to the Head Global Oncology Pricing Analytics, Operations and Payor Excellence (PAOPE).

Roles and Responsibilities

Global Pricing Governance and Decision Quality

  • Own the global pricing governance framework, including AOP processes, decision rights, standards, guardrails, thresholds, and GPC readiness, ensuring auditable, compliant, and high-quality enterprise decisions.
  • Lead GPC governance and administration by curating agendas, challenging strategic cases, securing cross-functional input, ensuring senior and executive pre-briefing, and documenting approval rationale and conditions.
  • Maintain and enforce global pricing governance documentation, including RACI, charters, and compliance controls, with authority to endorse, defer, or return cases that do not meet quality standards.

Innovative Contracting and Pricing Capabilities 

  • Define and lead the multi-year global roadmap for innovative pricing and contracting capabilities, including competencies, role expectations, certifications, and standards for enterprise deployment.
  • Develop, approve, and codify innovative contracting and IVS archetypes with compliance guardrails and success criteria, enabling scalable and consistent use across markets.
  • Build and steward a global pricing and contracting Center of Excellence through academies, masterclasses, and a global champions network to drive capability maturity.

Enterprise Pricing Strategy, Policy and Risk Advisory

  • Serve as a formal strategic advisor to Global PMA Leads, regional leaders, and affiliates on price strategy, IRP exposure, HTA implications, and external policy risks, including evolving legislative and regulatory environments.
  • Integrate policy and market access insights into scenario modeling and portfolio strategies, providing guidance to safeguard net price performance and mitigate enterprise risk.
  • Provide expert review and challenge of high-stakes pricing and contracting cases ahead of governance submission to improve decision quality and outcomes.

Pricing Tools, Analytics and Digital Product Ownership

  • Act as design authority and product owner for global pricing and contracting tools, including IVS calculators, simulators, and dashboards, ensuring scalability, usability, and strategic relevance.
  • Govern product backlogs, release planning, and prioritization, ensuring models reflect IRP, HTA, and policy realities in partnership with IT and Digital teams.
  • Prioritize capability investments and external vendor resources to support enterprise pricing and contracting objectives.

Performance, Adoption and Enterprise Value Realization

  • Define, track, and report enterprise KPIs and OKRs related to pricing governance, decision cycle time, net price integrity, and ROI of innovative contracting and IVS initiatives.
  • Drive global change management, communications, and adoption, identifying and closing market capability gaps through targeted interventions.
  • Maintain global pricing standards, playbooks, and a searchable IVS case library to embed continuous learning and performance improvement.

Skills and Requirements

  • University Degree economics, health policy, health economics, pharmaceutical sciences, medicines, or other relevant qualification 
  • Minimum of 11 years overall relevant experience in pharma, medical devise or consultancy
  • 5 to 8 years experience in Global Pricing and Market Access preferred
  • Deep expertise in global HTA and payer systems, launch sequencing, international price referencing, and innovative value strategies
  • Proven experience managing multi-indication pharmaceutical assets
  • Highly self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude; exemplifies Daiichi Sankyo’s core values and behaviors
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to influence and collaborate effectively within a complex matrix organization
  • Exceptional analytical and communication capabilities
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
