Job Summary

The Data Integration Engineer role requires a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in laboratory automation and data integrations. The ideal candidate will be adept at integrating laboratory devices such as plate readers and mass spectrometers into data layers, ensuring seamless data flow to Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This role involves configuring and customizing device outputs, developing templates and protocols for automated data transfer, and managing bidirectional data pipelines within platforms like Tetrascience. The candidate will collaborate closely with automation scientists and system owners to maintain and troubleshoot data systems, ensuring continuous and accurate data capture. A strong background in scripting languages, data formats, and standards used in laboratory instrumentation is essential. Experience in a non-academic research environment and proficiency with cloud-based data integration solutions are highly desirable.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Integrate laboratory devices such as plate readers, mass spectrometers, and other analytical instruments into the data layer to ensure seamless data flow
  • Configure and customize device outputs to be compatible with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Develop and implement templates and protocols for the automated transfer of data from laboratory devices to ELNs and LIMS
  • Configure file and HTTP output on individual instrumentation with operational and result data to be ingested in real time with data systems
  • Collaborate with automation scientists on automation workcells, instrument controls, and operations for data integration
  • Configure and manage bidirectional data pipelines within both TetrascienceData Platform and AWS data platform tools connecting ELN/LIMS and lab orchestration software
  • Collaborate with LIMS/ELN system owners, data visualization stakeholders, and other system owners to integrate using data platform tools · Maintain and troubleshoot data integration systems to ensure continuous and accurate data capture
  • Train laboratory personnel on the use and maintenance of integrated devices and data systems
  • Document integration processes, configurations, and protocols to ensure reproducibility and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory device integration and data management technologies

Qualifications

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree degree in science, engineering, or a related field required

 

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience in a non-academic research and/or development environment required
  • Minimum 3 years as an owner, administrator, or super-user of automation and instrumentation used to capture data in scientific lab workflows as part of a LIMS/ELN or other scientific data platform within the life sciences domain required
  • Proficiency with chromatography (UV and MS/MS) data sets and plate reader data
  • Familiarity with various liquid handling devices and capturing metadata
  • Experience with automation schedulers
  • Proficiency with cloud-based solutions for data integration such as the Tetra Data Platform or similar
  • Proficiency in scripting-focused languages such as Python
  • Strong understanding of data formats and standards used in laboratory instrumentation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams required
  • Experience with cloud-based data management platforms
  • Experience working collaboratively with software and data engineering teams
  • Proficiency with scientific data visualization tools such as Vortex or Spotfire
  • Experience with Tetrascience as a data pipeline and Dotmatics ELN preferred

Salary Range:

USD$157,920.00 - USD$236,880.00
