Job Summary

We are currently seeking an R&D Finance Enablement Intern from June 2027 – December 2027. This position works for approximately 37.5 hours per week in the summer and 20 hours per week for the remainder of the internship.

The R&D Finance Enablement team is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to support initiatives that improve how R&D Finance uses data, technology, and standardized processes to support forecasting, accruals, reporting, and decision-making.

This role will provide hands-on experience supporting the continued enhancement of the Project Expense Model (PEM), an initiative designed to standardize and automate R&D forecasting and accrual processes. The intern will also support the development of reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators as part of SAC Wave 3, the next phase of the organization’s implementation of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) - a cloud-based platform used to organize, analyze, and present business information.

The position offers an opportunity to work with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Systems, APMF, Clinical Operations, and other R&D stakeholders while developing practical skills in financial analysis, data visualization, process improvement, and technology-enabled finance.

Responsibilities

• Support the continued enhancement, testing, documentation, and implementation of the Project Expense Model (PEM), including validation of calculations, assumptions, and reporting outputs.
• Assist with reconciling and analyzing data from SAP, TRIDENT (portfolio planning tool), CRO reporting, contracts, purchase orders, and R&D Finance assumptions.
• Support the development and enhancement of SAC reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators, including data visualization and insight communication.
• Prepare recurring analyses, trend reviews, variance summaries, and other decision-support materials for R&D Finance stakeholders.
• Help identify opportunities to improve data quality, standardize processes, reduce manual effort, and responsibly leverage automation and AI-enabled tools.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Systems, APMF, Clinical Operations, and other R&D stakeholders to gather requirements, support user acceptance testing, resolve issues, and maintain process documentation and user guidance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Interest in financial systems, data visualization, reporting, automation, or business process improvement.
• Ability to work with large or complex data sets and identify inconsistencies or trends.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Curiosity, initiative, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced Excel functions, pivot tables, Power Query, or VBA/macros.
• Coursework or experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, data analytics, or information systems.
• Experience creating dashboards, presentations, process documentation, or data-driven recommendations.
• Interest in using technology and automation to improve finance processes.
